Gary Johnson has come out to prove how much of an environmentalist and a libertarian he is. He is proposing a "fee" or a "tax", which one is unclear as Mr. Johnson is so libertarian he refuses to give details.
From what we can gather:
Gary Johnson said he’s no skeptic of man-made global warming and endorsed a “fee” on carbon dioxide emissions.
OK that's kind of honorable..but what kind of "fee", and to whom is this "fee" paid? Where does the "fee" get spent? Unfortunately there are no such details in the article. We only can rely on the following quotes:
“I do believe that climate change is occurring,” Johnson said. “I do believe that it is man-caused” and “that there can be and is a free-market approach to climate change.”
While we appreciate the new phrase "man-caused", we fail to understand how free markets are going to fix "climate change". We do understand from our 1st grade science class review that the earth's climate has been changing since before the dawn of life, let alone the dawn of humans. Fortunately, Mr. Johnson gave us some clarity and we quote:
It’s not exactly clear how a “fee” on CO2 would be different than a “tax,” but Johnson’s announcement was picked up by environmentalists
Ok so according to the main stream media its all ok because its "picked up by environmentalists" and at the same time why should anyone care if its a "fee" or a "tax", because its just not clear.
